Artificial Grass Installation in Pangbourne

Pangbourne sits where the River Pang meets the Thames, a setting Kenneth Grahame knew well: he spent his last years in the village. It's a lovely place to live, but riverside gardens bring their own problems: damp ground, shade from mature trees, and lawns that take a battering every wet winter.

An artificial lawn on a properly built base deals with all three. It stays green under trees, drains through rather than holding water, and recovers quickly when the weather turns.

Artificial Grass Services in Pangbourne

Living With Flood Meadows

Most of Pangbourne's homes sit just above the Thames flood plain, and the meadows either side of the village have always taken water in a wet winter. In the 2013–14 winter storms, fewer than fifteen properties flooded, but low-lying gardens are another matter.

  • A deeper, free-draining aggregate base on low or wet ground
  • A permeable membrane and grass, so water drains through
  • Firmly fixed edges, so the lawn doesn't lift or shift
  • Simple clean-up after high water: brush off the silt and hose it down

Shade, Moss and Mature Trees

Gardens near the river often have big, established trees, and real grass rarely thrives beneath them. It thins out, moss takes over and the lawn is never quite dry. Artificial grass needs no sunlight, so it looks the same under a tree as it does in the open.

In shaded, damp spots we recommend a grass that drains well and is easy to brush clean, and we'll talk you through simple seasonal care when we fit it.

Muddy Paws After a River Walk

With the Thames Path and the Pang on the doorstep, Pangbourne is a village of dog walkers. An artificial lawn means paws come in clean, even after a wet walk. Our pet installations drain straight through and use a limestone base that helps neutralise urine. Find out more about artificial grass for pets.

Pangbourne Artificial Grass FAQs

Is artificial grass a good idea if my garden floods?

It can be, if the base is built for it. Water passes through the grass and membrane, and once a flood has gone down you brush off any silt and rinse the lawn with a hose. A real lawn usually takes months to recover from the same flood.

Will it grow moss like my real lawn?

Moss can't take root in the grass itself. In very damp, shaded spots a little algae can form on the surface over time; a brush and a suitable cleaner clears it.

What does it cost in Pangbourne?

From £75 per m² supplied and fitted with our most popular grass. We fix the price after a survey, once we know the ground and how it drains. How our prices work.

Will it get muddy with dogs?

No. That's one of the main reasons dog owners choose it. Paws stay clean, the lawn dries quickly after rain and drainage is built in to stop smells.
